Advocacy
Whenever you interact with us about one of our products or services you can have an advocate if you need help to say what you want. An advocate is an independent person who will speak for you. If you don’t have an advocate, but would like to have one during your interactions with us, we can help you find one.
When engaging with our service, it is common for individuals to have a primary therapist working with them who can help them make decisions related to our services and products. An advocate might also be:
- A family member
- A partner
- A carer
- A friend
- A representative of another service provider
You have the right to work with us directly, or to select whoever you would like to speak on your behalf.
What you can expect from us:
You will be supported if you choose to speak to us directly about what you want or if you want us to liaise with someone else on your behalf.
You will be supported to change who speaks for you, or who you would like us to liaise with.
If we have been liaising with someone on your behalf, and you no longer want that to continue, you have the right to withdraw your permission for that person to speak for you.
We will work with the advocate chosen by you, and will involve this person in all areas of your service planning and decision making.
If you would like any further information about how we deliver our services, or how you can involve an advocate, you can contact us on (09) 610 6902 or at [email protected]
